Looking at pre paid credit cards, don't leave yet. If you've been denied credit because of information supplied by a credit bureau, federal law requires the pre paid credit cards creditor to give you the name, address and telephone number of the bureau that supplied the information. If you contact that bureau within 60 days of receiving the denial, you are entitled to a free copy of your report.

Card issuers are permitted to mail you an application or a solicitation for a or to ask you by phone whether you want to receive a card and to send you one if you say yes.
Then they'll go to their credit bureau's computer terminal in their office and run a credit check on you by typing into their computer system your name and personal information in order to pull your creditreport, thus creating a new credit file on you in the process.
